I got the strangest letter in the mail today. A parent wrote to me (not e-mailed, but actually wrote a letter) asking that I please not award their daughter any more free books. ?? I won't, per the request, but isn't that odd?
Maybe they were upset that their kid gave out their home address to a stranger on the Internet? I personally can't see going so far as to ask you to quit sending books (because I'd think I'd go out of my way to find out why you send them, and golly, participating in a literacy site isn't grounding behavior,) but some folks are all-or-nothing.
His reason was because he felt it interfered with her college preperation to be reading so many "entertainment" books. I'm not sure how I feel about that. What's that saying about all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?

Oh my god, that poor kid. :((( I'll be glad when s/he gets to college and can read any damned thing s/he wants!
